If you are a vocalist, you may apply to study on the dedicated Opera Pathway. For strings players, there are additional Chamber Music and Orchestral Pathways and pianists have the option to specialise in accompaniment or repetiteur studies in addition to the standard pathway. Your Principal Study activities will include up to 45 hours of one-to-one lessons. Strings, brass, wind and voice students will also have an additional allocation of time with a professional accompanist or coach. In addition to this, we have designed a range of classes to support the development of your professional skills and musical confidence, including presentation skills, solo and orchestral repertoire sessions, ensemble coaching, operatic work and performance practice. If you specialise in composition or music technology, your options will include advanced harmony and counterpoint, analysis and aesthetics, sound and image, recording techniques and advanced instrumentation. To allow you to begin planning and preparing for your careers while studying, we also run a series of business skills seminars covering all aspects of professional life from taxation to concert promotion.
