Course info
This course will help you develop the physical and emotional resources to enable you to respond to the wide-ranging demands of the contemporary acting professions. We have designed this course to equip you with the full range of knowledge and skills you will need to succeed in theatre, film, television and radio. This comprehensive new programme enables graduates and others with relevant experience to quickly acquire and develop the practical skills necessary to establish and sustain a career in theatre, television, film and radio. You will need substantial reserves of stamina and resourcefulness in order to take full advantage of this highly intensive training. We will begin by ensuring that you have a thorough practical appreciation of the fundamental methods available to actors through improvisation, character and relationship work. You will also receive training in movement skills, exploring physical approaches to the development of character and methods for safe, economical use of the body as well as basic dance techniques. In stage combat classes, you will learn skills in fencing and unarmed combat. Vocal skills classes will teach you the essential techniques relating to speech, singing, accents and the effective use of the voice. Through a concentrated series of practical classes with experienced industry directors you will become familiar with the practical disciplines and circumstances of acting to camera. You will also work with established professional camera and sound personnel on the realisation of a short film. Rehearsals in a fully equipped, purpose built studio will teach you the skills related to radio acting. Following intensive rehearsals, you will be cast in two public productions and, halfway through the course, you will also be involved in Showcase presentations to an invited audience of potential employers in Cardiff, Manchester and London. This course is subject to validation.

How much will it cost?
Subject to approval by the Board of Directors, annual tuition fees for students from the UK and other EU countries on the Postgraduate Diploma in Acting for Stage, Screen and Radio beginning in September 2008 will be £4,035.
